What are the causes of bag rupture in octagonal sealed packaging bags?

2025-08-07

1. Bag manufacturing process

Excessively high bag manufacturing temperatures can degrade the performance of the heat-sealing material at the heat-sealed joints, thereby increasing the bag rupture rate; excessive manufacturing pressure can cause the heat-sealing material at the heat-sealed joints to be squeezed out, reducing the effectiveness of the seal and leading to bag rupture.

2. Material factors

The material must have sufficient thickness; insufficient thickness can result in insufficient bag strength, leading to bursting issues. The addition of recycled materials in the material, if excessive, can also cause insufficient bag strength and result in bursting.

3. Impact of packaged items

When packaging heavy or powdery items such as salt or laundry detergent, after filling the bag with such items, the air inside the bag should be expelled before heat sealing to reduce the stress on the bag walls, allowing the solid contents to bear the force directly, thereby minimizing bag damage.

4. Peel strength of composite film

For octagonal sealed packaging bags, the strength of the composite film must also be considered. If the peel strength of the composite film is too low, it may fail to meet the requirement for multiple layers of composite materials to bear force simultaneously, resulting in inadequate force distribution. During a drop test, this can cause bag rupture. Additionally, in high-temperature retort pouches, some adhesives have poor heat resistance, especially in complex structures. During high-temperature retorting, this can cause cracking at the seal edges and delamination of the composite film.
