How does Wanle Packaging reduce solvent residue during the manufacturing and printing of food packaging bags?

2025-10-28

1. Among the three resins—EVA-40W, MP-45, and CL-PP—CL-PP typically contributes the highest solvent residue levels, while EVA-40W contributes the lowest. Therefore, under conditions that ensure composite strength, the CL-PP content can be appropriately reduced while increasing the EVA-40W content.

2. When dissolving EVA-40W, MP-45, and CL-PP, incorporating a portion of ethyl acetate and residual solvent reducers can effectively reduce toluene-based solvent residues in the ink film.

3. Select appropriate CL-PP. Solvent residue levels in composite inks vary significantly among different manufacturers' CL-PP. If formulation costs permit, consider using Japan Paper's PP803MWS, which typically reduces residue by 50% at equivalent usage levels.

4. Verify the purity of solvents used for ink and printing machine brushes. Even trace amounts of high-boiling-point solvents may cause excessive solvent residue or severe odor in printed materials.

5. Adjustments during printing and lamination:

① Minimize toluene-based solvents when preparing diluents; use a mixed solvent of Toluene: Acetic Acid: Methyl Ethyl Ketone = 2:5:3;

② Increase exhaust ventilation within the printing press drying tunnel during printing and moderately raise the tunnel temperature. If feasible, open the tunnel for multiple drying cycles after white ink printing.

③ Appropriately reduce ink viscosity during printing.
